Capricorn Full Moon over Santa Barbara – July 2014 Photo by Jodi Lilly
Moonlight beams down
Softening hard edges
And clean lines
Mystery rules the night
With its own brand of light
In which to release
The harsher realities of the day
Gazing out over the ocean
The full moon
A jewel among the stars
At a time when I feel so alone
Why am I here?
Why is this so hard?
To all those dreams
That once drew me forth?
On an enchanted canvas
Stars twinkle in reply
I see my questions
Are small matters
In the big scheme of things
The answers lie
In this moment
In witnessing the magnificence
In holding this holy moment
Communion with the sky
In not only eyes and mind
But Heart and Soul
Life is a mystery
Living the mystery
With open Heart and Mind
When we think
We already know

Spring waits in quiet splendor just around the bend
These last days of winter dawn softly
Releasing the final vestiges of the past twelve months
Days grow longer; sunlight slowly overtaking the night
Dream time is rich; filled with vibrant images
People long gone but never forgotten by the heart
Appear full of life and laughter
Singing the timeless greetings of their spirit
Everything is possible in this nebulous world of wonder
Beauty reaches new heights in this sacred space within
Flashes of insight and seeds of potential in glimmers of grace
Carry their promise on the breeze of imagination.
Exotic flowers in full bloom carry me back to the island life I left behind
I see the shining sea and the bougainvillea-lined lane of my morning runs
The magical beach I walked at sunset rejoicing in the splendor of Life
Lives and breathes in the eternal springtime of me, still.

I have had a nagging feeling there was more to say about 2010 being a year of magic so I looked up the journal entry I wrote on the morning of New Year’s Day when I first posed the question:
So what about this fresh new year?
This is the year of Magic. The year in which old rules are broken and new possibilities are realized. A year in which I (you) learn to command energy and create transformation and inspiration follows fast on the heels of it.
This is a year in which dreams are realized, changes happen swiftly and beautifully and that which was once thought to be miraculous becomes commonplace.
This is an extraordinary year being born right now. A year in which empowerment is understood and wisdom prevails.
There is much that will take place in these first three months as the pieces move and a new design is created. The picture will change in a way that will awe and delight you.
I am already seeing evidence of magic manifesting in my life–the picture changes daily in ways that truly amaze me and boggle my mind. Life is good. Have you noticed?
Thank you for taking the time to stop by. I’d love to hear your thoughts on magic or hear about how it is playing out in your life. Enjoy!
I like to check in with myself as each year begins to get a sense of what the theme is for the year-to-come. Last year my intuition was very clear that it would be a year of miracles. And without question, miracles occurred. One after another. Some came wrapped in the cloaks of challenges. Others have been, well, miraculous. 2009 was quite a year.
So, on the eve of 2010 I sat down, again and asked what would be the theme of this new year. “2010 is the Year of Magic!”, said the familiar voice in my head. “This is the year that you will see your own hand in the fruits of the changes that occur. You will find new and better ways to do things. Ease will replace effort as the most efficient way of getting things done. You will be astonished by what you and many others will accomplish despite what may appear to be overwhelming odds. It is time for magic. It is time to move in the direction of playfulness and laughter and joy. Be open to the possibilities and see what is revealed. It is time to follow the shiny breadcrumbs and see where they lead.”
I have been hearing from my Inner Guidance about shiny breadcrumbs for many years now. Unlike the breadcrumbs in the Hansel and Gretel story, shiny breadcrumbs are not edible. In fact, they are not visible to anyone but the one to whom they belong. They mark the way to back to the heart of who we are; coded just for us, so that when we are ready we can find our way to those things which evoke the joy that is our essential nature. Magic is many things. We have been led to believe that magic is nothing but illusion, trickery and slight of hand. Real magic is what happens when we let go of the things that really don’t work anymore and start to embrace our lives whole-heartedly, choosing the path that calls to us rather than the one so many others are soldiering down. Magic happens all the time. It is up to us to open not only our eyes but our minds to see what we are capable of when we put our heart into something.
Here’s wishing you and yours a year of Magic and Miracles.
