I listened to a fascinating lecture on Human Design today by it’s founder and messenger, Ra Uru Hu. The major themes and lessons of Human Design is that each of us is unique. This is something I come back to over and over again in my work with clients, doing astrology readings. I show people how they are unique and help them to understand their own genius that only comes through when they embrace their individuality completely. “Love yourself.” Ra says it often. And it bears repeating.
How many of us were taught to love who we are? How many of us were raised by people who were secure enough in themselves and as parents to really encourage us to not only be who we are but to love our self?
Most of the people who come to see me for a session are dealing with some kind of conflict between who it is they think they should be or how they ought to behave and the part of them that just wants to break free of all of those constraints and LIVE, full out as who they are.
I’m not sure how it happened that people are so afraid of love but I see it all the time. Love is the essence of who we are. Fear has replaced love in the minds of so many as being more intelligent and even noble, somehow. Does this seem like a crazy notion to anyone else? Fear is simply the resistance to love. It is a choking off of the life force that creates all kinds of trouble and even disease, for us. Love is your nature. You really can’t not be love, but you do have the free will to make your life miserable by denying it.
Love yourself. It sounds so simple. For most of us, it takes some getting used to and practice. Is it really okay to embrace one’s quirkiness and failings and the crazy things that disturb and delight us? Is it really okay that we don’t care about some of the things that are so important to others? Are we really allowed to forget about the stuff someone else thought we should do and focus on the stuff we prefer?
The question is, if you don’t live your life, who will? If you don’t do what is in your heart to do, who will do it? We each have something of value to offer. All transformation begins from within. If it doesn’t happen within you first, the external changes will be fleeting or ineffective or both.
Love yourself. Start today. It is the most amazing life-changing thing you can do. Once you learn to love you there is a new ease that naturally happens in relationships with others, too.
Love yourself. You were born lovable. When you love yourself, you become Love-able. Loving you is probably the most important, enlightening, life-transforming thing you’ll ever do. The whole world looks different through the eyes of love.
