The Rainbow Bridge Chiron

cropped-Rainbow-Captured.jpg
The beveled edges of our glass table tops create prisms so the sun shining through living room window ignites rainbows that make their graceful way across floors and walls and doors.

Like a lot of people, I’ve had a thing about rainbows for as long as I can remember. The magic and promise they hold lifts my spirits, even on the dreariest of days. While living in Hawaii a few years ago, rainbow sightings became a daily occurrence and after a while the day just didn’t seem complete until I’d made that rainbow connection.

In astrology, Chiron is called the Rainbow Bridge between Saturn, the purveyor of conventional wisdom, practical, traditional methods and down to earth discipline, and Uranus, the instigator of cutting-edge ideas, future-focused insights and quantum leaps of consciousness. Chiron bridges the conscious and the super-conscious mind allowing us to use what we know to expand into something beyond that which was previously possible. Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer. Everyone has some area of their life in which a pattern was initiated very early on, that left them feeling vulnerable and insecure. At age 50/51, Chiron circles back to its natal position in our birth chart, the Chiron Return, and those old wounds are revisited. At this point, we are able to see and understand the nature of our affliction/vulnerabilty/insecurity and realize its gifts that allowed us to function as a personal rainbow bridge of hope and understanding for others struggling with similar challenges.

Aquarius, co-ruled by Saturn and Uranus which Chiron bridges, is the sign of revolution and technology. One example of something that occurred during the time Chiron moved through Aquarius (2006-2011) was the iPhone’s release to the mass market, which revolutionized the way Western culture functions and communicates. Since 2011, Chiron has been traveling through Pisces, opening us to greater spiritual knowing, unveiling long-held secrets that challenge our belief systems, shining a light on our addictive habits and dissolving the boundaries that keep us separate. Currently, Chiron in Pisces is in a beautiful relationship to both Jupiter in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn, creating an environment in which to release any illusions around the ‘need to control’, heal our psychic wounds of the past and find a way to nurture our disheartened spirits through unconditional Love. I am seeing and feeling the mantra We Are One, more and more the past few years. As the song says, We are the world, We are the children, We are the ones to make a better day…

Rainbows speak directly to our soul with a cosmic thumbs up and as a divine reminder that there is a way to the other side of whatever challenge we are experiencing, the storm is over, anything is possible and all truly is well.

A Breath of Fresh Air

There is nothing like a few good deep breaths to help a person slow down and relax. I took my first ever CPR Certification class over the weekend and one of the things they recommend doing is having the injured person breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth to help them relax.

I have long been a fan of breathing. I learned many years ago that breathing consciously and deliberately helps in letting go of tension, breaking habits and focusing, to say nothing of the difference it makes in one’s ability to perform physical tasks and exercise.

It was fairly recently, though, that I really began to understand the transformative quality of the breath that enables one to release even the toxic emotions and memories that impact us so deeply they change our sense of who we are and what is possible for us in this life.

Breath of LOVE (acronym for Laws Of Vibrational Energy) is a new technique taught by Cory Herter that makes it possible to pretty much rewrite one’s own history or at least change, in the present, our experience of the past. Breath of LOVE allows a person to release the emotional charge of traumatic or disturbing memories so the experience can be integrated and the person is free of the weight of that experience and the behavior patterns that were developed as a result.

I have been asked by several people about the wisdom of letting go of these old, painful memories, after all, they say, don’t we need to remember those things to make sure we don’t forget what we learned from them? The answer is no, no, no. Once a memory has been processed and integrated the experience becomes part of who you are rather than something that happened to you. As a result, you have a piece of wisdom networked into your being that was previously sitting, unresolved in the subconscious. Once we face those things that happened and breathe through the layers of the experience we begin to make connections we were not aware of before. Insights surface about ourselves and others in the experience and we begin to see how other experiences are related. When the memory has been fully processed we come to a new awareness about ourselves and our life.

The breath is a transformational power tool. Most of us just haven’t understood how to use it for our transformational healing. Breath of LOVE makes it possible to literally ‘change your mind’ and lighten up in about an hour.
