Rainbow Goddess Moon and Entertaining What’s Possible

Rainbow Goddess Taurus Full Moon

Rainbow Goddess Taurus Full Moon (c) 2014 Jodi Lilly

I’m still thinking about last week’s full moon in the sign of Venus-ruled Taurus. When I uploaded my full moon pictures, I saw that this one had a rainbow around the top of the moon. After years of taking pictures of the moon, I have never before seen this! It was as if Venus, just a handful of degrees from the Sun in Scorpio, at the time, was projecting her creative flair to help the moon reflect even more brilliance in her fullness.

We have been through such an intense time of change, in the past few months, especially. So many people I know are undergoing major life-changes. Some of these people have chosen their changes, others definitely did not. Regardless of what prompted the change, having skillful means for navigating life’s transitions can make all the difference. I love the quote I’ve been hearing a lot lately, that says, “Life isn’t happening to you. It’s happening for you.” That simple change in perspective opens us to new possibilities. And while we may not have a choice about exactly what has happened, we have a choice about how we will act in response.

I have been through a lot of life-changing times; we all have. One of the things that helps me the most is the gift of hindsight. Being able to look back at situations that felt like ‘the end of the world’ at the time, turned out to be simply, ‘the end of the world as I knew it’. And each of those transitional times opened my heart and life in ways that allowed me to take actions that I would never have considered, back when I was comfortable and my life was predictable.

My Sun (ego/heart of the self) and Mercury (communication/intellect) are in the Mutable Air sign of Gemini. However, my Ascendant, Venus, Moon, Pluto, and Saturn are all in Fixed signs. So while my heart and mind are all for changing things, keeping them fresh, and entertaining all kinds of creative possibilities, (especially mentally!) my body, sensibilities, emotions and sense of responsibility are wired for predictability and stability, at all costs. So, while I can easily counsel others on the value of making wise choices about the crossroads before them, I know what it is to come up against a lot of internal resistance to taking action until the parts of myself that have concerns are addressed.

We all have obstacles and legitimate concerns about how to move forward when staying put is no longer an option. As we look back at other turning points, we see that we did make it through. Things did work out. Oftentimes, in ways we could never have foreseen and better than we could have imagined. One of the best tools I have discovered for navigating life’s ups and downs is to take a few moments when relaxed, to close my eyes and imagine the situation about which I am concerned and really feel the internal resistance I am experiencing around this topic. When the feelings are strong, I imagine myself melting all of that resistance and let my body release it, as well. Then I flip the situation and see it in a way that feels ideal, to me. Dwelling for a little while in that heightened state of awareness and allowing it to seep into my being, helps to open the creative floodgates for new possibilities to actually occur.

If the moon can have a rainbow, so can you. Keep looking up. You just never know what you might see.

Love,

Jodi

Taurus Full Moon

Fancy under the Taurus Full Moon

Fancy under the Taurus Full Moon

The moon reached its fullness yesterday, in Taurus, sign of self-esteem, sensuality and earthy beauty. This is far from the best picture I’ve taken of a full moon, but it was the best of the moon and Fancy, perched on the fence.

The moon is exalted in Taurus, the sign ruled by the Goddess planet, Venus, which is all about the body and our direct, felt experiences in life and the creatures with whom we share this lovely planet.

Taurus is about what matters to us and plays a large part in what materializes in our lives. To what are you paying your time and attention? These are huge clues about what we value. If our values and the things we support are not aligned, we end up with a disconnect between what we love and what shows up for us. The more aligned vision and values are, the more we experience the beauty and grace life has to offer.

As we move into the moon’s waning period, taking stock of what no longer serves us, in preparation for the next cycle of our lives, helps keep us in flow, in these times of accelerated change.

Love,

Jodi

Wild Moon ~Aquarius Lunar Eclipse of Aug 5-6, 2009

Lake Tahoe Resized

Did you see that crazy moon last night? Not only was it full and bright, it was the third in a series of eclipses that started a month ago. This Lunar Eclipse right in the middle of the never-a-dull-moment sign, Aquarius, followed the Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on July 7, the Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 21. I don’t know about you, but I have had an amazing summer, unlike any other, these past couple of months. Having gotten better at letting go, I feel a sense of personal freedom and wonder at how quickly things are changing. After years of studying the effects of eclipses this last series felt especially intense in terms of how swiftly people’s lives are changing.

The conditions in one’s natal chart will show whether an eclipse, or any astrological event, will be experienced directly, through those around us or through the collective. I have Aquarius Rising, so this eclipse occurred in my first house, the house of the personality, appearance, the instincts and the body. My experience of this eclipse was physical. I felt awash in emotion, upset by things that I would normally take in stride. Old, previously stuck emotional patterns were surfacing like waves on the beach finally available for acknowledgment and release.

The ongoing line-up of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius continues to shake up the status quo and this Aquarius eclipse amplifies their effect even more. Breakthroughs are likely as the moon, still in full (manifestation) mode brings fresh light to this area of the zodiac and our lives, in breaking down old patterns and creating new potentials for something more healing, visionary, ingenious, humanitarian and inspired to occur.

This Aquarius Lunar Eclipse occurred on or very close to the natal Sun of those Aquarians with birthdays between around January 27–February 3. If that is you, expect the unexpected. You know how much you like to do things your own way, this energy is ripe for finding yourself in a situation you didn’t necessarily see coming. This is no time to sit around waiting to act on what you want. If you’ve been itching to take a chance on something, this may be your golden opportunity.

Those Geminis and Libras with birthdays between about the 27th of May or September and the 3rd of June or October (and even a few days on either side of those dates) are likely to be feeling an energetic boost from this eclipse in a positive, let’s get going and make something happen, kind of way. Full Moons are a time of manifestation. Whereas New Moons are about fresh starts.

The other fixed signs: Taurus, Leo and Scorpio are under a dynamic tension to take action now. Status quo is no longer a viable alternative for anyone, really. Change is only stressful when resisted. As much as those born under a fixed sign prefer that others make the changes so they don’t have to–I am speaking from personal experience, here–there are times when the only thing to do is accept that sometimes change is necessary and ultimately, a good thing, and then do what you know must be done.

As with any event, remember that though you may not have a conscious choice over what happens in your life, you always have a choice about how you respond to what is happening. It is much easier to navigate the river of life when we are open to accepting where we are at the moment. In being present to what is, we can make wise choices about the next step and the one after that. May your precious summer days be filled with sunshine and love.

NaBloPoMo ~Blogging Inspiration and Astrology

I just signed up for NaBloPoMo–National Bog Posting Month. The beauty of this is that unlike NaNoWriMo–National Novel Writing Month; each year tens of thousands of us attempt to write 50,000 words of a new novel between November 1st through the 30th (I signed up three years and succeeded twice)–NaBloPoMo starts whenever you do with the goal of posting to one’s blog every day for a month.

I can’t even begin to count the levels on which this appeals to me. As a lover of words and writing, any excuse to write is a good one. Secondly, there are so many things that I’m drawn to write about–all these amazing changes taking place in the world, reflected by the ever-changing cycles that create the language of the sky. This looks like a great inspiration for getting more of this in writing to share with clients, friends and readers, everywhere.

Mercury, The Messenger, is in Cancer with the Sun, opening us to ideas about taking better care of ourselves and those we love. The Moon just entered the sensual Goddess Venus’s sign, Taurus, setting the mood for taking your time, stopping to smell the wildflowers, enjoying nature and appreciating what there is to love in your world. Venus and Mars are both in Gemini at the moment, the sign of writing, communication, expression of all kinds, networking, short bursts of activity and me, actually. This is a great time for sharing what you are passionate about, what you are doing and what you are creating in your life, today. Go forth and communicate!

Who else is ready to take up this blogging challenge with me?

Venus and Taurus

red-flowers-in-april.jpg

While the Sun is in Taurus (April 20-May 21) there is an urge to settle in and connect more fully with the earth and our own nature. This pace is slower and more deliberate. The earth is nourishing the seeds that have taken root. What were once seeds or bulbs or inklings of ideas are now developing enough to reveal evidence of their own nature.

Taurus energy invites us to literally come to our senses. We begin to see, smell, hear, feel, and maybe even taste how that potential is manifesting. For a living thing to have integrity (that is, to be integrated and sound) it must be given time and space and appropriate nurturance to grow healthy and strong. The time of Taurus is rich with all of those elements.

Engaging the Taurean energy supports us in taking a stand and committing to the business at hand. There is a respect for the process of tending to and seeing that which was started through to fruition.

Venus is in charge of beauty and balance, self-esteem and worthiness, value and values, so those born with the Sun or other planets in her sign are prone to express sensuality, body awareness, deliberate action, take pleasure in their possessions and have an appreciation for natural, earthy beauty.

As a fixed sign, Taurus tends to hold on for the purpose of creating stability. Holding on too long hinders one’s ability to be in the flow of life and live in the present. This is a challenge for many with strong Taurus energy in their natal chart.

Taking a deep breath and connecting with one’s heart and inner being in any moment can serve us in remembering our true value lies in expressing our unique perspective and individuality. Our value has never been dependent on how we do or don’t feel or what we do or don’t have.

Taurus represents the journey to experiencing the one who lives in the body and experiences life through the senses. Indulge in the beauty, color, sounds, textures and tastes you love this month and watch your spirit come alive.

Taurus~Time of The Goddess

yellow-flowers.jpg

Venus, Goddess of Love and Beauty, balance and bounty, pleasure and pleasantries is the ruling planet of Taurus. Taurean beauty is earthy, natural and sensual. Wildflowers strewn across hillsides in a burst of color, tender buds on trees, the smell of home cooking, a leisurely massage with fragrant oils, beautiful music to lift the spirit and soothe the soul speak to the very heart of Venus and Taurus.

Venus in the time of Taurus reminds us to pay attention to that which feels good, to pay attention to those things and people that matter to us, to honor and respect ourselves. That which we value we appreciate. As we express our appreciation we open to receiving again, on a new level.

During this time of the Goddess, we may be more aware of the delightful pleasure that our human nature is designed to receive. Our senses invite us to feel, smell, and taste our life; to go out of our mind (stop thinking so much) and into our body (to access a deeper receptivity and wisdom) and experience the sensuality of a silk dress floating gracefully around our legs as we walk or the heady scent of a bright yellow freesia wafting on the breeze or the fluttery, joyful anticipation of reuniting with a dear one at the airport.

Venus enhances our lives in countless ways we may not realize until we slow down enough to be present in our own skin and enjoy the bounty of blessings that always await our notice. It is in this gentle noticing that our lives are enriched.

In what ways might you bring more of the Goddess into your experience? As you begin to appreciate Her gracious generous offerings the pleasure will be all yours.
