Venus Retrograde in Aries
March 10, 2009
Speaking of the Goddess, Venus entered the forty-day retrograde phase of her cycle last weekend. Venus has been in Aries since early February, stirring passion, possibility and the spirit of pioneering in the hearts and souls of men and women everywhere. Venus in Aries is a busy Goddess; bold, instinctive and impulsive in nature. She is inspires leadership, prompts acting directly from the heart, sparks spurts of self-promotion and fans the flames of a desire for something new and different.
Since Venus is the ruler of love, money and values, once she goes into retreat, it is natural to reconsider these very things and see them in a new, and sometimes alarming, light. Planets are said to “go retrograde” when they get to be a certain distance from the Sun, the difference being unique to each planet. As Venus now travels back through Aries to meet up with the Sun, the principle of conscious awareness, we may find ourselves experiencing a change of heart about what we have been doing and taking a fresh look at our relationship with self , since Aries is the sign of the individual. The challenges in our relationships with others always reflect some unresolved matter within one’s own heart. Venus retrograde offers an opening to see our heart in a new and compassionate light. During Venus retrograde periods we have an opportunity to realize that some of the things we have done on impulse in the past look much different from where we stand today.
Some questions to ask might be:
- What really matters to me now? ~For many people the answer is different than it was just a short time ago.
- What can I happily live without? ~Honestly, this one is very liberating.
- What changes can I make that will enrich my life? ~Even one little positive change opens you to new possibilities.
- What happened to my passion? or Why am I not doing those things I know ignite my passion? ~The answers to these questions might surprise you.
The Goddess of Love has much to show us right now about who we are and our intrinsic value to the world. As Goethe said, “Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” There is so much more to say on this topic but I will leave it at this for now.
Venus will resume forward motion on April 17th.
