While Mercury is retrograde, often things are not as we would like them to be. When The Trickster is moving backward (from Earth’s perspective) life can seem to be a bit like driving the car looking only in the rear view mirror. It is easy to crash into things that are right in front of us or miss our exit, so we arrive late. We try so hard to keep up our normal pace that we end up working against ourselves until we realize that it is time to slow down or maybe even stop for a little time out.
With Mercury in retrograde motion, first in Aquarius and then backing into the late degrees of Capricorn, we can make the most of this time by cleaning up loose ends and either completing or deleting projects that have languished, unfinished, for far too long. Review, reconsider, relax, relinquish, rest, restore, reclaim, recreate, respond, restructure, refinance, realize, renovate, reorganize and realize renewal. Aquarius rules friendship, goals, networks, technology and inventive, innovative ideas. Capricorn’s concerns are business, government, creating structure and the physical manifestation of potentials.
With the moon waning until the New Moon in Aquarius on January 26th, we are doubly primed for letting go of anything that isn’t working for us or enhancing our experience in some way, in our businesses, groups, friendships and the technologies we employ. This is a great time for clearing clutter, including the unused and unnecessary files on your computer, rethinking your social and business relationships, and reconnecting with the old friends you have been meaning to get in touch with. .
So, Mercury’s gone retrograde and the moon is on the wane… sounds like the title of a country music song, doesn’t it? Actually, it’s just life playing itself backward for a while so we have a chance to catch up..
*Mercury goes direct, again, on February 1, 2009.
